Teeth Whitening

A bright, white smile can dramatically improve your appearance and boost your confidence. At West Veranda Dental Care, we offer professional teeth whitening treatments that deliver faster, more effective, and longer-lasting results than over-the-counter products.

Our professional whitening systems use prescription-strength bleaching agents that can lighten your teeth by several shades in a single visit or over a short period of at-home treatment.

IN-OFFICE TEETH WHITENING

Our in-office whitening treatment is the fastest and most effective way to achieve a dramatically brighter smile. In just one appointment — typically about an hour — we can lighten your teeth by several shades. We apply a professional-strength whitening gel to your teeth and use a special light to accelerate the whitening process. You will leave the office with a noticeably whiter, more radiant smile.

TAKE-HOME WHITENING KITS

For patients who prefer to whiten at their own pace, we offer custom take-home whitening kits. We create custom-fitted whitening trays from impressions of your teeth and provide you with professional-strength whitening gel. You wear the trays for a specified period each day (usually 30-60 minutes) for about two weeks, gradually achieving your desired level of whitening.

WHAT CAUSES TOOTH DISCOLORATION?

There are many factors that can cause teeth to become stained or discolored, including foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, red wine, and berries; tobacco use; aging; certain medications; excessive fluoride during tooth development; and trauma. Professional whitening is effective for most types of staining, though some types of discoloration may require alternative cosmetic treatments.

MAINTAINING YOUR WHITE SMILE

To keep your smile bright after whitening, avoid or limit staining foods and beverages, rinse your mouth with water after consuming staining substances, brush and floss regularly, and touch up with at-home whitening products as needed. With proper care, professional whitening results can last 1-3 years.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes, professional teeth whitening is safe when performed under dental supervision. We evaluate your oral health before treatment to ensure you are a good candidate.

Will whitening work on crowns or veneers?

Whitening agents only work on natural tooth enamel, not on dental restorations. If you have crowns, veneers, or bonding on front teeth, we will discuss how to achieve a consistent result.

How white will my teeth get?

Results vary depending on the degree of staining and your natural tooth color. We can give you a realistic expectation during your consultation.
